Agave americana. Monocot native to hot and arid regions of Mexico and the U.S. The have gray green leaves with monocarpic flowers meaning they flower only once, then die. Plant produces suckers and adventitious shoots from the base. They have succulent fibrous leaves with sharp marginal teeth and a very sharp terminal spine.
