Helianthus annuus. Annual. Flowers seem to glow in an array of gold, bronze, orange and scarlet tones with lots of bicolors. Well-branched tall plants with numerous flowers over a long season. Good bird food selection with lots of oil-rich seeds.

- Additional instructions: Sunflowers are tender annuals that do well in a variety of soils and do not need much care. Bloom time is late summer into fall. Great companion plants include corn, cauliflower, and squash. Not recommended to plant nearby beans and potatoes.[3]
- Harvesting instructions: Harvest for cut flowers when flowers are just beginning to open.
